Woodland Hills Community Church is proud to be called a “5 for 5” church?

What does “5 for 5” mean?

The United Church of Christ has 4 special offerings each year to help a variety of mission efforts.  The One Great Hour of Sharing offering is typically taken on the fourth Sunday of Lent.  The proceeds go to relief efforts around the globe.  The Strengthen the Church offering is typically taken on Pentecost Sunday.  The proceeds go to fund leadership development and youth ministries in the denomination.  The Neighbors in Need offering is typically held the first Sunday in October: a Sunday known as World Communion Sunday.  The proceeds go to benefit the Council for American Indian Ministry and the denomination’s Justice and Witness Ministry Team.  The Christmas Fund offering is typically taken on the Sunday before Christmas.  The proceeds go to help those retirees who spent a good portion of their careers serving the church.  If you would like to know more about these 4 special offerings, you can click here:  UCC Special Offerings.

In addition to participating in these 4 special offerings, “5 for 5” churches go one step further;  they commit a portion of their annual budget to something called Our Churches Wider Mission (OCWM).  This money is used to strengthen the life of the National and Conference settings of the United Church of Christ.

Woodland Hills Community Church is proud to be called a “5 for 5” church – as it works hard to coordinate its own mission efforts with the efforts of our sisters and brothers in The United Church of Christ!
